With a structural engineering background ,Darryl started his career of over 40 yrs with glass by designing and creating stained glass lampshades, windows and doors. From there he moved onto making his own kiln and firing bowls and lampshades.
The move to Auckland from Northland meant a new direction where he discovered his signature piece, kiln fired gold glass which had unique finish and endless possibilities. These came in the form of platters and bowls which have proved extremely popular over the years both here and overseas.

In 2017 after 3 yrs of a labour of love … Fagence Art Sculpture Garden was opened. A perfect backdrop of native bush sets the scene, surrounded by bird song and peace. Darryl’s unique stainless and glass sculptures sit well among the harmony that is an oasis only ten minutes from the CBD on the North Shore.

He has been represented by the “Sculpture on the Shore” (Woman’s Refugee) for the past four years and also many NZ art galleries including Kura, Kina, Moko, Blackdoor Gallery, Real Aotearoa and Kaipara Sculpture Gardens.
