A weekend of creativity in Kaipātiki

Open Studios Kaipātiki is a community arts event celebrating the many artists and makers who live and work across the Kaipātiki Local Board area on Auckland’s North Shore.

For one weekend, artists will open their studio doors to the public, offering a rare glimpse into their creative spaces, their process, and the work they’ve been making.

You’ll be able to plan your own self-guided trail, meet artists, ask questions, and maybe even take home a new piece of art.

Calling Kaipātiki-based artists and creatives

If you live or work in the Kaipātiki Local Board area and have a studio space you’d like to open for the event, we’d love to hear from you.

Open Studios Kaipātiki is open to all types of creative practitioners – from painters and printmakers to ceramicists, sculptors, textile artists, photographers, designers, and beyond.

We’re looking for makers who are ready to share their work professionally with the public, and who want to be part of a well-supported, high-quality event.

Taking part is free. Every participating studio receives:

  • A listing in the printed event brochure and map

  • A dedicated artist page on this website and inclusion in the self-guided digital art trail

  • Brochures and posters to share within your local area

  • Event signage for your studio, with additional wayfinding signs available on request

  • A marketing workshop and resources to help you promote your studio

  • Promotion through our newsletters, social media channels and PR campaign

The registration form takes approximately 15 minutes, and you can save your progress and return to it later.

Artist registrations close Friday 4 September 2026.

The Kaipātiki Area

Open Studios Kaipātiki spans the Kaipātiki Local Board area – from Birkenhead Point to Glenfield, Beach Haven to Northcote, and everywhere in between.

The area is known for its mix of established neighbourhoods, lush reserves and walkways, rich Māori heritage, and a growing population of creative professionals. It’s home to vibrant town centres, diverse communities, and hidden pockets of artistic talent.

Kaipātiki includes the suburbs of:
Bayview, Beach Haven, Birkenhead, Birkenhead Point, Chatswood, Birkdale, Northcote, Northcote Point, Glenfield, Hillcrest, Totara Vale, Marlborough, Sunnybrae, Wairau Valley and Windy Ridge.

You’ll be able to explore studios by suburb using our online map (coming soon), and plan a route that suits your interests and your pace.
