Planning for Open Studios
Open Studios Kaipātiki is designed to be enjoyed on your own terms. Take your time, wander from studio to studio, chat with artists, and let your curiosity guide you. Whether you spend ten minutes or an hour in each space, it’s all about the experience.

Visiting the studios
How it works
Studios are open from 10am to 4pm on both days. Entry is free and there is no need to book unless an individual artist listing says otherwise.
Kaipātiki is compact, but its studios are spread across a mix of town centres, residential streets and creative spaces. Plan a trail around one or two nearby areas, or create a longer route and spend the day discovering artists across the North Shore.
Plan your visits
Pick up a printed brochure and map from a participating studio, local café or library, or download a copy from our website once it becomes available.
You can also search in the Auckland Stories app to follow the digital trail, learn about each artist, get directions and create your own route.
Before you set out
Check each artist listing before you visit for opening days, parking information and accessibility notes.
Some studios are located at private homes or on residential streets where parking may be limited. Please park considerately and respect our artists’ neighbours.
Not every artist will accept card payments. Many can take payment by bank transfer, but it is also worth carrying some cash if you hope to purchase artwork.

Bring the Family
Most studios welcome children, and some may offer hands-on activities especially for families. Please check the individual artist listing before visiting, as working studios can contain tools, equipment or fragile artwork and may not all be suitable for young children.
Children must be supervised throughout your visit.
Accessibility
We aim to include accessibility information on every artist listing. As studios range from purpose-built spaces and galleries to home studios and workshops, access will vary.
